Invite 1: 12-15 kts Fraser (Impact) lead the whole way closely followed by Pigout, Breadrun and Truck.

Invite 2: Breeze topped 22 knots, half the fleet did not finish. The Impact boys were fast out of the blocks again and not sighted for the rest of the race. The Camel train came in second with Spank (Jo Mitton) Third. Pigout and All Scoobed out filled the minor places.

Heat 1: 10 - 23 knt North Easter swinging 35 degrees. Close at the front between Fraser Emma Perkins (Watch out for the Scooby) and the Wise Magic Boys. A few spills along the way, including Emma at the last gybe mark. Thundering now, who knows what we will get tomorrow.

Heat 2: Ouch! 35 knots from the North in the morning, 12 knots on the start, shifting 35 degrees. Course change after the first triangle with many lead changes. Truck, Scooby and others had attempts at leading. Breeze got lighter through the race with shifts up to 90 degrees. Big breeze inversion up the last work with many boats changing places. Mal Higgins (Blur) got the gun by a fair margin in the end, followed by Navigator from Tassie. The rest as they say is history.

Heat 3: 5 - 10 knots from the south west, swinging to the west late in the afternoon. The usual suspects were up the front including Fraser (Impact), Mal Higgins (Blur) and Robby Duessen (Rage Factor). But the race was taken out by the boys from WA in Vicious (Wade Henson) who had great speed in the light stuff. Everyone is getting ready for a big night and a deserved break tomorrow.

Heat 4: Another light one. 5 - 10 knots all day from the South to Southwest. Wind swung again on the start and a lot of boats got stuck out the left hand side with not a lot of wind to get back with. Mal Higgins was over a minute ahead just after the start and stayed there all day. Rage Factor (Robbie Duessen) was chasing his old boat all day, ending up third, with John Woollatt (You can't get Fritz) having a great start and holding second place. Some of the contenders finished a back in the pack a little making the progressive results interesting. A lot of people now looking at the Chug-a-lug trophy as the one to win.

Heat 5: Similar breeze to Heat 1, but stayed in all day. 5 - 15 knots from the North to East, Swinging up to 45 degrees. Three general recalls, third was a black flag with around 10 boats sent home. On the fourth start Jacko (Bread Run) port tacked the fleet from the pin and lead for the rest of the day. Minor places were fought for by Blur, Rage Factor, and One Hump.

Heat 6: The Largs Bay show continued today with more frustrating sailing conditions. It was however the first heat start to get away with no black flag. The first race started in 5 - 10 knots westerly, with Ricky Clark (Truck) leading the fleet around the top mark. Breeze swung to the SSE and boats were beating to the wing mark. The race was abandoned and restarted about 40 minutes later in the Southerly breeze. Still 5 - 10 knots for the whole race, breeze oscillating about 20 degrees. Lots of port tack boats caught out at the top mark with a procession of starboard tackers. Tide and a wind shift caught many out and there was a pile up involving many boats, Truck had to retire with substantial damage. Emma Perkins (Watch out for the Scooby) made her way to the front and stayed there the whole race. Again the Vicious boys were also quick in the light stuff and claimed second. Blur (Mal Higgins) and Rage factor faught it out for the minor places. Mals third place secures the National title - well done guys!

Heat 7: Started in around 10 knots westerly, slowly clocking left and building all day. Another 4 boats were black flagged in a general recall. Mal Higgins came out and showed why he is now the National champion, taking out the final heat. Largs bay finally showed its true colours with a 20 knots South-Westerly coming in 1/4 of the way up the last work, too little too late. The Scooby crew just held out Vicious for third place - well done guys.
