Largs Bay Sailing Club websitemap
The Largs Bay Sailing Club has a seventy year tradition of being an excellent competitive and family orientated club. Its facilities are unsurpassed as an “off the beach” sailing club and its strong management has seen stable membership over the years.
One month ago the sailing club was granted a Sports and Recreation Grant along with a grant from the local Port Adelaide and Enfield council for a major redevelopment of the sailing club. This will see new bars, new kitchen, new change rooms and new facades for the club! A fantastic investment for the club’s future!
LBSC Facilities
Comfortable Lounge and bar, a “Yachties” wet Bar , 2 Squash courts, full size billiard table, an eight ball table, fully equipped kitchen and dining facilities. Licensed up until 1am!
Shaded balconies and decking allows for excellent viewing of the on water events;
The broad, sandy beach allows for easy rigging, launching and retrieving boats. Council by-laws allow motor vehicles access to the beach for the delivery, retrieval and rigging.
Over 400 car parks are available in the northern and southern car parking area.
Spectators will benefit from the course layouts as they will be given maximum viewing opportunities from the Club, the Esplanade and the Largs Bay Jetty.
Members who have craft moored at the CYC and Yacht squadron will make these available for further spectator viewing.
Sharpie sailing in upper wind ranges is far more exhilarating and spectacular and does well to promote the class. Largs Bay experiences, on average, a high percentage of sea breezes from the SW direction 15 – 25 knot range during late December/January.
Largs Bay and the neighboring coastal strip
Largs Bay is located in the north western suburbs of Adelaide approximately fifteen kilometres from the Adelaide business centre. The area is well serviced by public transport with buses and trains available within five minutes of the club.
Major shopping centres are located within a few kilometres of the club both at the West Lakes shopping Mall where major retailers are located and in the historical Port Adelaide Centre which is fast becoming the major tourist attraction in Adelaide.
Adelaide offers the family excellent tourist facilities with major events and attractions enticing many visitors during the Christmas / New Year period.
Largs Bay is also adjacent to the suburbs of Semaphore and North Haven. Semaphore is undergoing a major resurgence in home renovation and renewal. The trendy shopping street of Semaphore Road offers a wide range of variety in restaurants, hotels, antique stores, bric-a-brac, pharmacy, supermarkets, bakeries, etc.
North Haven, located on the other side of the LBSC, provides further eating and shopping options with the Sailmaster Tavern, Chinese Restaurant and other local Supermarket options.
